Curtain Buying Guide
Curtains and window dressings are key to completing the look of a room. We will help you every
step of the way. If you need someone to measure and fit this is also available.
Sometimes the size is not quite right for your existing pole or track. Don’t worry we can have them
altered to fit for a small fee. We also have a made to measure section. One of our staff will be on
hand to help.
If you have a track, then measure from the top of the track to where you wish them to fall to. Then
measure end to end. This is normally a pencil pleat or pinch pleat heading. For this you would need 2
times or 2.5 times the width in fabric.
Top Tip
If you have a track or pole already fitted, ensure you measure the full width. If you don’t have one in
place yet, measure the width of your window recess and allow for an overhang, we recommend
adding 30cm, 15 cm either side of your window frame. If your track will go in the ceiling measure
wall to wall and ceiling to floor.
If you have a pole, then measure from the top of the pole to where you wish then to fall. Then the
width of the pole. This would generally be an eyelet or tab top heading. Normally for this you need
1.5 times to double the width in fabric.

- 66” x 54” = 168cm x 137cm
- 66” x 72” = 168cm x 183cm
- 66” x 90” = 168cm x 229cm
- 66” x 108 = 168cm x 274cm
- 90” x 72” = 229cm x 183cm
- 90” x 90” = 229cm x 229cm
- 90” x 108” = 229cm x 274cm
Before you start
Have a steel tape measure ready, and something to write all of your measurements down as you go
along. The track or pole should be 15-20cm above your window, and 15-20cm either side.

Before you start shopping it is best to have some idea of size, colors and what you need from your
curtains.
Do you want a soft Voile or shear to defuse the light? Are you looking for a heavier curtain to cut or
block the light? Maybe just something simple to frame the window. We also have a range of Blinds if
this is your preference.
Some curtains are sold in pairs and tend to be lined. Some are blackout and noise reducing. We also
have single panels and lots of different sizes.
